Frequently asked questions
- Does this service include transport or removals?
- No. This page is for customs clearance and documentation enquiries only. If you also need a move, use our separate removals enquiry.
- What is an EORI number and do I need one?
- An EORI (Economic Operators Registration and Identification) number identifies a person or business in customs declarations. Businesses moving goods between Great Britain and the EU generally need one; private individuals moving personal belongings may not, depending on the procedure used.
- What is ToR1?
- ToR1 is the HMRC application for Transfer of Residence relief, which can allow eligible people moving their normal residence to the UK to import personal belongings without paying import duty and VAT. Eligibility conditions set by HMRC apply.
- What is a T1 transit document?
- T1 is a transit declaration under the Common/Union Transit procedure. It lets goods travel under customs control, with duties suspended, until they reach the office where they are cleared.
- What are ENS and GMR?
- An ENS (Entry Summary Declaration) gives customs safety and security data before goods arrive. A GMR (Goods Movement Reference) is generated in the UK Goods Vehicle Movement Service and links the declarations for a vehicle crossing certain GB borders.
- How does an enquiry work?
- You send the details through the form. Dimond Movers reviews every enquiry personally and replies to explain what paperwork is likely needed and how we can help. Your details are not shared with anyone without your agreement.
