London to Spain — the route we run every month

London to Spain is a regular route on our European schedule. Collection from any N, NW, W, WC, EC, SW, SE, E postcode; transit 5-9 days door-to-door via Eurotunnel and the French motorway network; delivery into Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Alicante and beyond.

Spain is by far our most-booked European destination. Most of our Spain moves go to the Costa del Sol (Marbella, Estepona, Fuengirola), Alicante and the wider Costa Blanca (Javea, Moraira, Denia), Valencia and Barcelona. We also run regular trips to Madrid, Murcia and inland Andalusia.

Costa del Sol, Costa Blanca, Barcelona, Madrid — different moves, different planning

A Costa del Sol move (Marbella, Estepona, Fuengirola, Mijas) typically lands in a villa or townhouse with reasonable vehicle access we run the route Eurotunnel, through France, over the Pyrenees at Biriatou and down the AP-7 / A-7 along the Mediterranean coast. Costa Blanca (Alicante, Javea, Moraira, Denia, Calpe) follows the same route but adds a day's drive.

Barcelona deliveries are typically apartments with restricted parking and we'll plan a shuttle vehicle in advance. Madrid is a longer inland leg and customs paperwork is occasionally checked at the central inland customs office (TIVA).

Post-Brexit customs into Spain — what actually changed

Since 1 January 2021, household goods moving from the UK to Spain require a formal customs declaration. We handle this end-to-end: valued inventory in English and Spanish, T1 transit document and the DUA (Documento Único Administrativo) at the Spanish border.

If you are becoming a Spanish resident, you can claim Transfer of Residence (ToR) relief and avoid Spanish VAT and import duties on used personal effects (typically owned for more than 6 months). You will need your padron certificate, NIE/TIE and proof of ownership we will guide you through exactly what to send.

Customs and paperwork for a London to Spain move

Post-Brexit customs declarations required for personal effects; Transfer of Residence (ToR) relief possible if you are taking up residency.

Paperwork we prepare and submit as part of every London to Spain move: detailed inventory in english and spanish (valued); copy of passport / nie / tie for residents; padron certificate or rental contract at destination (if applying for tor); t1 transit document for the trailer; proof of uk ownership (older than 6 months) for tor relief.

Fixed pricing from London

Indicative pricing for a London to Spain move: £1,400 (shared part-load, small 1-bed) up to £6,500+ (dedicated 4-bed villa move). Every quote is fixed in writing after a survey — no day-of surprises.

Suspended-bay permits are usually required in Zones 1-3 and we lodge those 10 working days ahead of every move. We factor collection access into the fixed price so the loading day runs on schedule.

How the London to Spain move actually runs

We route this corridor via Eurotunnel or Dover-Calais, then France via the A10/A63 and the border at Irun or La Jonquera. Transit is 5-8 days to mainland Spain, 7-12 days to the Balearics, and the difference between the fast end and the slow end of that range is almost always part-load consolidation rather than the drive itself - a dedicated van leaves your door and does not stop for anyone else's load.

Paperwork is where overseas moves go wrong, so we do it in-house. Post-Brexit you need a full valued inventory, passport copy, proof of your Spanish address (escritura, rental contract or padron) and, for duty-free entry of used household goods, a Transfer of Residence claim supported by your NIE and residencia paperwork. Everything is checked before the vehicle leaves the UK, because a missing residency document costs days at the border, not hours.

Urbanisation and gated-community access in Costa Blanca and Costa del Sol frequently needs a shuttle from a 7.5t vehicle - we survey for this rather than discovering it on delivery day.

Island deliveries (Mallorca, Ibiza, Tenerife, Gran Canaria) add a sea leg, so we quote the mainland consolidation and the ferry or container leg as separate, visible lines.

Spain move checklist

  • Book 3-5 weeks ahead - customs paperwork, not the vehicle, sets the lead time
  • Have your passport, destination address proof and tax/residency number to hand
  • Decide part-load (cheaper, flexible dates) or dedicated van (fastest, fixed day)
  • Declare a realistic replacement value so the insurance matches the load
  • Tell us about pianos, artwork, wine, safes, gym equipment and garden machinery
  • Check restricted items - no aerosols, fuels, paints, plants or perishables
  • Send photos or video of access at both ends: driveway, stairs, lift, gate width
  • Confirm who can accept delivery at destination and on which dates
Questions From Real Searches

Answers to the questions people ask

How much do removals from London to Spain cost in 2026?
A part-load (a few rooms of furniture and boxes) typically starts from £1,150, a dedicated van for a 2-bed home from £2,850, and a full 3-4 bed household from £4,200. Price depends on volume in cubic metres, access at both ends, packing and insured value. You receive a fixed written quote after a free survey - video survey is fine.
How long does the move from London to Spain take?
Typical transit is 5-8 days to mainland Spain, 7-12 days to the Balearics. A dedicated van is fastest because it goes straight from your door to the delivery address. A part-load costs less because we consolidate loads, so it waits for the next scheduled run - we give you a delivery window in writing before you commit.
Which paperwork do I need for Spain?
Post-Brexit you need a full valued inventory, passport copy, proof of your Spanish address (escritura, rental contract or padron) and, for duty-free entry of used household goods, a Transfer of Residence claim supported by your NIE and residencia paperwork. We prepare the inventory, complete the export declaration and check your documents before the vehicle leaves the UK, so nothing stalls at the border.
Which parts of Spain do you deliver to?
We deliver to Costa Blanca (Alicante, Torrevieja, Javea, Denia), Costa del Sol (Malaga, Marbella, Estepona), Valencia, Barcelona, Murcia, Madrid, Almeria and the Canary and Balearic islands via onward sea freight. If your address is outside those areas we still quote it - it usually means an onward leg with a trusted destination agent, shown as a separate line in the quote.
Is my furniture insured in transit to Spain?
Yes. Goods in transit and marine cover are included, and you declare a replacement value at booking so the cover matches what is actually in the load. Items we pack ourselves carry full cover; owner-packed boxes are covered against loss and external damage.
Do you pack for international moves?
Yes, and for overseas moves we strongly recommend it. Export packing means double-wall cartons, edge protection on case goods, purpose-made mattress and sofa covers and a numbered inventory - the same inventory customs reads. Fragile-only packing is available if you want to box the rest yourself.
Can you store our belongings before or after the move?
Yes. Insured container storage in the UK covers the gap when your Spain completion or rental start date slips, and we redeliver into the next scheduled run rather than charging you for a wasted trip.
Do you move in the other direction too?
Yes - we run Spain to UK moves on the same vehicles, which is why our pricing on this corridor is competitive in both directions. Return-leg capacity is often the cheapest way to move a part-load.
