Packing for a container journey is not the same as packing for a UK domestic van. 4-12 weeks of ship motion, humidity swings, multiple crane movements and destination unpack all place demands that ordinary domestic materials will not survive. Dimond Movers LTD export-packs every international move to marine / road-freight standard using our own trained crews.
Heavier and structurally stronger than domestic cartons — designed to take a 3-high stack in a container and multiple crane / forklift movements without collapse.
Every case piece (wardrobes, chests, dressers, dining tables) is blanket-wrapped and shrink-wrapped, corner-protected and secured for transit.
Container humidity can hit 90%+ on tropical routes (Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai). Leather sofas, unwaxed wood and pianos need moisture-barrier wrap — we do this as standard on humid-destination routes.
Fine art, antiques, chandeliers, sculptures, upright and grand pianos, wine collections — bespoke plywood crates built to the item, not stock sizes.
Every carton and case-piece barcoded, inventoried in English and destination language. Signed by you before the vehicle / container seals.
Garden furniture, bicycles, sports gear and untreated wood receive dedicated cleaning / declaration for MPI (NZ) and DAFF/BICON (Australia) inspection.
We survey the property and agree what's export-standard, what's crated separately, what stays in the UK.
Double-wall cartons, blanket wrap, moisture-barrier film, custom crates — delivered before the pack date.
Our own trained crews (not day-labour) pack to marine / road standard. High-value items packed by senior packers.
Every item logged as it's packed, in English and destination language. You review and sign before seal.
Container or vehicle loaded, tamper-evident seal applied. Seal number recorded on the inventory.
A UK domestic move is loaded, driven a few hours, unloaded. Bubble wrap and single-wall cartons cope fine. An international container is craned into a ship, stacked 3-6 high, sailed for 4-12 weeks through humidity and temperature swings, craned back out, road-freighted to the destination and unpacked.
Domestic cartons collapse under a stack; leather sofas mould in unbarriered containers; unwaxed wood swells and cracks; single-layer wrap tears on the second lift. Export-grade materials solve every one of these — that's what we pack every international move with.
For fine art (framed pieces > 1m), large sculptures, chandeliers, upright and grand pianos, mirrored bar cabinets and wine crates, we build custom plywood crates to the item. Standard cartons and blanket wrap are not enough for these — a single knock in transit ruins a £15,000 antique.
Custom crating adds cost (typically £150-£600 per crate depending on size) but is essential for high-value items — cheaper than repair.
New Zealand (MPI) and Australia (DAFF/BICON) apply the strictest biosecurity inspection regimes in the world. Garden furniture with any soil, bicycles with mud on the tyres, camping and sports gear, BBQs with grease residue, and untreated wooden ornaments are the most commonly flagged.
Our packing SOP for these destinations includes: dedicated cleaning of all outdoor / garden items, declaration of every wood item and its treatment status, and removal of all food residues from kitchen equipment. This is the single biggest predictor of a fast MPI / DAFF clearance — we build it into the pack, not the destination.
We export-pack from across the South of England for shipment worldwide.
