Antique Furniture Removals You Can Actually Rely On

Most antique damage on a move happens for one of three reasons: the wrong wrapping (household bubble wrap fused to lacquer in heat), the wrong crew size (two people lifting a marble top), or rushed loading (uneven stacking that puts weight onto fragile joints).

Our antique handling protocol addresses all three before move day, in writing, with the customer agreeing wrapping, crew size and load plan up front.

Marble tops should never be lifted by the corners they crack on uneven pressure. We use cradle lifts, four person crews and dedicated padded transport positions.

Mahogany and lacquered finishes need acid-free tissue first, then quilted blankets never household bubble wrap, which can leave marks in summer heat. Gilded frames get tissue and corner protection; the frame is never touched by tape.

A lot of our antique work comes through estate solicitors handling probate clearances or family members splitting an inherited collection. We're comfortable communicating with multiple parties, providing written inventories and splitting deliveries to multiple addresses on the same job.

For probate, we can pause moves at a third party storage destination, with documented inventory transfers if the solicitor's process requires it.
