Since 1 January 2021, every UK-to-EU household move needs: a T1 transit document for the trailer, a destination customs declaration (DUA in Spain / Portugal, DAU in France, etc.), and a detailed valued inventory in English and the destination language.
New EU residents qualify for Transfer of Residence (ToR) relief on used personal effects owned for over 6 months no VAT or duty payable. The exact paperwork name varies by country (Bagagem de Uso in Portugal, Übersiedlungsgut in Germany, Trasferimento di Residenza in Italy) but the principle is the same. We prepare and submit all of it.

Distance is only one of three factors, and usually the least important. The first is whether your load travels dedicated or consolidated: a dedicated van leaves your door and drives, whereas a part-load joins the next scheduled run for that region - the reason a Spanish part-load can quote 8 days when the drive itself is 3.
The second is the crossing. Eurotunnel departures are frequent and largely weather-proof; the Dover-Calais ferry is cheaper but exposed to weather and industrial disruption. Where a fixed delivery day has been promised, we book the tunnel and price it in.
The third is destination access, which is where days quietly disappear. An Italian ZTL permit, a German Halteverbot booking, a Parisian syndic loading window or a shuttle vehicle for a Spanish urbanisation each need arranging before departure. We do that at survey stage, so the transit estimate in your quote is the one you actually get.
Because we run these corridors in both directions from our Oxfordshire base, we can usually offer a part-load slot within two to three weeks in either direction rather than waiting for a load to build.
