A coordinator runs a video or in-person survey, agrees the inventory, mode (van / part-load / container) and timeline, and confirms a fixed all-in written quote.
Step 2
Export Packing
Our crews export-pack your belongings to international shipping standards: heavy duty cartons, bubble wrap, blanket wrap for furniture, full inventory list and barcoded labels.
Step 3
Customs Paperwork
We prepare the destination customs declaration, transit documents and Transfer of Residence paperwork where applicable and submit them in advance of the vehicle / container arrival.
Step 4
Transit & Delivery
Our driver / shipping line handles transit; our destination agent handles port, customs and final delivery, unpacking and debris removal. You get tracking and a single point of contact throughout.
How ToR-1 relief works for returning UK residents
ToR-1 (Transfer of Residence relief 1) lets returning UK residents import household goods VAT and duty free, provided you have been living outside the UK for at least 12 months and the items have been in your use and ownership abroad for at least 6 months.
The application (C88 / ToR-1) is submitted to HMRC before the shipment arrives at UK customs. HMRC issues a Unique Reference Number (URN) that we quote at the UK border. We handle the whole submission — most applications clear within 5-15 working days.
Common origins — Spain, France, Portugal, Germany, Italy
Spain return-legs are our highest volume — Costa del Sol, Costa Blanca, Barcelona and Madrid all consolidate onto our regular Iberian return trips. France (Paris, Nice, Dordogne) is a short 3-7 day return via Eurotunnel. Portugal is combined with Iberian runs. Germany, Italy and the Benelux countries all run on rolling return schedules.
Ireland (both Republic and Northern) is a routine Belfast / Dublin ferry return. Scandinavia and Central Europe are on request.
Repatriation and estate wind-ups
A significant share of our Europe-to-UK moves are estate wind-ups — a UK relative passing away abroad, and the family needing to bring belongings, furniture or specific heirlooms home. We handle these sensitively, coordinating with the local European agent, notary or executor as needed.
Where the property abroad is being sold with contents partially retained, we can survey selectively and only ship the retained items back to the UK.
