Cotswolds removals country house standard, properly delivered

Moving in or out of a Cotswold country house is unlike a standard suburban move. Period staircases, listed property restrictions, long gravel driveways, irreplaceable antiques and the sheer volume of furniture all demand a removals company that knows exactly what it's doing.

Dimond Movers LTD has built its reputation on this exact type of work. We bring senior coordinators, experienced crews, the right vehicles and properly specified wrapping materials. We don't rush, we don't take shortcuts, and we don't leave until every piece is precisely where it should be.

Burford, Stow, Chipping Norton, Bibury and beyond

We cover the entire Cotswolds from the Oxfordshire side around Burford, Chipping Norton, Charlbury and Woodstock, through Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water and Bibury, down to Tetbury, Cirencester, Painswick and Stroud.

Long distance moves from London, the Home Counties or the South Coast into the Cotswolds are particularly common in our work, and we coordinate them end to end with the same crew throughout.

Specialist handling, properly insured

If your move includes a grand piano, a collection of fine art, antique furniture or a wine cellar, we plan and quote for those items individually. Every Cotswolds move is fully insured as standard, with the option of increased cover for high value items.

Our crews are experienced, polite and discreet exactly what's needed when moving through a village or a private estate.

Country house moves are an access problem before they are a lifting problem

The reason Cotswold moves go wrong is rarely the furniture - it is the approach. Single-track lanes with passing places, honey-stone gateposts a few centimetres wider than a Luton, long gravel drives that a loaded 7.5-tonne vehicle will churn, and market-town centres like Stow and Burford where you cannot simply stand a lorry on the square for six hours. We survey the approach in person for anything above a 3-bed, and we quote the shuttle in from the start.

Volume is the second surprise. A Cotswold property is rarely just the house: there is the barn, the stable block, the garden machinery, the wine, the log store, and thirty years of accumulated furniture in an attic reached by a loft ladder. Under-surveying that is how a national mover ends up abandoning half a house at 7pm.

Our approach is a proper walk-round, a written inventory, the right crew size, and full protection on stone floors, oak stairs and beams. For very large properties we plan a two- or three-day sequence so completion day itself stays calm - and we can hold anything that does not fit the new house in insured storage until you are ready.

Cotswolds country move checklist

  • Photograph or measure your gateposts and any low bridges on the lane
  • Confirm whether a 7.5-tonne vehicle can turn on your drive
  • Include barns, stables, workshops and log stores in the survey
  • List antiques, art, clocks and wine for separate wrapping and inventory
  • Flag anything needing declared higher-value insurance cover
  • Decide whether packing runs the day before completion
  • Book storage early if the new property is not ready
Questions From Real Searches

Answers to the questions people ask

How much do Cotswolds removals cost?
A 2-bed Cotswolds cottage move is typically £600-£900, a 3-4 bed village house £950-£1,600 and a 5+ bed country house £1,800-£4,500 as a multi-day project. Cotswolds to London starts around £1,100. All prices are fixed in writing after a free survey.
Can a removals lorry reach my Cotswold village?
Often not directly. Burford hill, Bibury, Stow's back lanes, Painswick and many gated country drives cannot take a 7.5-tonne vehicle. We survey access first and, where needed, shuttle with a smaller van to a larger vehicle parked safely nearby - included in the quoted price, not added later.
Do you move antiques, fine art and wine collections?
Yes. Antique furniture, oil paintings, mirrors, clocks and wine are wrapped individually, crated where needed and listed on a separate inventory. Higher-value pieces can be declared for enhanced cover.
Which Cotswold areas do you cover?
Burford, Chipping Norton, Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water, Bibury, Tetbury, Cirencester, Charlbury, Woodstock, Painswick, Stroud, Northleach, Moreton-in-Marsh, Broadway, Chipping Campden, Cheltenham and Witney.
Can you move a listed Cotswold stone property?
Yes. Stone thresholds, flagstone floors, oak staircases and low beams all get protection before anything moves. Our crews work slowly through doorways rather than forcing furniture through.
Do you handle barn conversions and estate properties with outbuildings?
Yes. Barns, stables, workshops and garden stores are surveyed and priced properly - they are the most commonly under-estimated part of a country move.
Can the move be spread over more than one day?
Yes. Large country houses are usually best done as a two- or three-day project: packing and outbuildings first, main house on completion day. This is quoted as a single fixed price.
