Transit & Delivery

We export-wrap and load the container at your UK address (or our Crowmarsh Gifford depot), seal it with a numbered customs seal and ship from Felixstowe, Southampton or London Gateway to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Fremantle (Perth) or Adelaide.
DAFF quarantine — the unique Australian challenge
Australia has the strictest biosecurity regime in the world. Every container is opened and inspected on arrival. Anything containing wood, leather, plant matter, soil, food residues or animal products will be flagged.
Garden tools, BBQs, golf bags, bicycles, mattresses and outdoor furniture are common quarantine triggers. We brief you in detail on what to clean, what to declare and what to leave behind — and we provide a pre-export wash-down service for problem items.
UPE B534 and the Australian customs paperwork
B534 (Unaccompanied Personal Effects Statement) is the core Australian customs form. Used personal effects owned for 12+ months are usually duty and GST free if you are a returning Australian resident or new visa holder.
Alcohol, tobacco, new items and high-value goods (jewellery, art) need separate declaration. We prepare the B534 with you before shipment and coordinate with our Australian destination agent for ABF and DAFF clearance.
Timelines, payment milestones and what happens on arrival
Typical schedule: collection week 1; container packed and into the port week 2; sailing 5-7 weeks; arrival, customs and quarantine 1-2 weeks; final delivery week 8-12. We provide bill of lading and tracking after sailing.
Destination services (port handling, customs, DAFF, delivery, unpacking) are included in our quote — no surprise local agent fees on arrival.

Many Australia relocations involve a gap between leaving the UK property and the container or van loading. We run secure, insured short and long-term storage at our Crowmarsh Gifford depot useful when you have completed your UK sale but the Australia property isn't ready yet.
Storage is invoiced monthly and can be combined with the export packing and Australia shipment under a single coordinator and single quote.
