Student Removals in Oxford

Term and move-out timing: Oxford colleges run 8-week terms with strict move-out by the Friday of 9th week; Brookes follows a standard 12-week semester pattern.

Central Oxford college access usually requires a porter-arranged delivery slot; Cowley and Headington shared houses have residents-only parking that needs day permits.

An Oxford college move is usually a single room: clothes, books, bedding, a desk lamp and a couple of boxes of crockery. The college porter manages vehicle access (typically a 30-60 minute slot at the lodge), and we work to that window. Christ Church, Magdalen, St John's, Keble, Wadham, Trinity, Merton and the central colleges all run this way.

Cowley, Iffley and East Oxford (OX4) shared houses are different: 3-6 students moving out on the same day at the end of summer term, residents-only parking, narrow Victorian terrace doorways. We size the van and crew to the shared house, not the single room.

Brookes students move differently to the university — 12-week semesters with standard end-of-year clear-outs in May/June. Headington campus halls (Crescent Hall, Cheney Student Village, Clive Booth) have on-site loading bays and goods lifts. Wheatley and Harcourt Hill are slightly further out and access is usually straightforward.

We run a regular Brookes loop in late May / early June and can combine multiple student moves on one trip to keep prices down.

Oxford colleges typically require students to remove all belongings between terms (vacation residence is increasingly rare). Brookes halls do the same over the summer. We run a popular summer storage service from our Crowmarsh Gifford depot — 10 miles south of Oxford — collecting at end of Trinity / end of semester and redelivering before Michaelmas / autumn start.

Storage from £20 per month for a single room's worth of boxes and bedding, fully insured, climate-stable. Most students book the round-trip (collect + store + redeliver) as a single fixed quote.

Roughly 40% of Oxford students are international. We frequently collect a student's UK accommodation contents, store over summer, and either redeliver in autumn or ship onward to Singapore, Hong Kong, the USA, Australia or Europe at the end of their course. Bookings are often coordinated by parents from overseas — we work entirely by email and video.

International shipping uses our standard international removals service (sea container, airfreight or part-load to Europe) at a discounted student rate.

Book 2-3 weeks in advance for the peak last week of June; mid-week and earlier-in-June dates are usually fine at shorter notice. Send us a couple of photos of the room or shared house and a list of any large items (mini fridge, monitor, bike) so we size the van correctly.

Use ordinary boxes or reuse the boxes you arrived with cardboard from local supermarkets is free and works fine for books, clothes and bedding. We bring blankets for furniture and the larger items.
