UK to Europe Customs Clearance

Customs services only — transport and removals are not included.

Since Brexit, goods moving from Great Britain to any European country cross a customs border. The UK side needs an export declaration; the destination needs an import declaration or a relief claim. EU countries share common rules but apply them through their own customs authorities, while Norway and Switzerland follow national rules.

Choose a country for its customs authority, the documents usually needed and the points specific to that country.

Frequently asked questions

Is customs the same for every European country?
No. EU member states share the Union Customs Code, but each applies it through its own customs authority and forms. Norway and Switzerland are outside the EU customs union and use national rules.
Do personal belongings need customs paperwork after Brexit?
Yes. Since 1 January 2021, goods moving from Great Britain to Europe need UK export formalities and import formalities in the destination country, even when a relief means no duty or VAT is paid.
My country is not listed. Can you still help?
Send a customs-only enquiry with the destination. We will tell you whether we can help with the paperwork for that country.
